YAKI DA (JÆKI: DA - YAKEE-DAH)
Exclamation, Welsh:
A drinking toast; good health.
Yaki Da is the anglicised translation of Welsh phrase "Iechyd Da".

The story of Yaki Da began with a personal journey shared by co-founders Hywel and Ellie. Like many, they relied on coffee to fuel their busy lives. But the inevitable side effects, anxiety, jitteriness, and energy crashes, took a toll.

Seeking a gentler alternative, they turned to matcha, captivated by its ability to provide sustained energy, mental clarity, and a host of health benefits. It felt like a revelation: a solution that nurtured both body and mind.

However, as much as they loved matcha, the ritual of preparing it became a challenge, especially on the go. Traveling with tins of matcha powder, delicate whisks, and mixing bowls was anything but practical. They even joked about how many matcha tools they must have accidentally left behind in hotels or trains across the UK. The inconvenience was a barrier and they knew they weren’t alone in this struggle.

This frustration sparked an idea: what if they could create a premium bottled matcha that captured all the goodness of ceremonial-grade matcha, but without the hassle? Something pure, versatile, and simple. Not another overly sweetened latte or carbonated energy drink, but a product that could be enjoyed as-is or easily added to their favourite alternative milk.

From this vision, Yaki Da was born. More than just a drink, it represents a commitment to mindful energy and modern convenience. For Hywel and Ellie, it’s the answer they were looking for—a way to enjoy matcha anywhere, anytime, without compromise.

Since the success of their bottled matcha and after numerous requests from both customers and retailers, in summer 2025 Yaki Da launched it's ceremonial grade matcha as a standalone product to sit alongside it's bottled matcha.
